Moody Foodie!

I stay at the midpoint between two Foodies joints, both walking distance from my house. It was the name that attracted me to it at first, and then word of mouth praises.

Foodies is a small restaurant with good food at cheap rates with a huge menu and smiling staff. And though kathi rolls are the most popular, their menu boasts of over 500 items.

Much to our delight (especially for those at the office who rejoice at the thought of desk delivered lunch), Foodies opened another outlet not too far away. It’s located at Kamala Nehru Park and seemed a bit more posh in decor than ones I was used to, but the guests felt similar — college students and young professionals out to lunch.

We decided to try items we’d never eaten there before and asked for thukpa (a noodle soup with Tibetan origins and unfamiliar to most at our table), reshmi kabab and fish cutlet. We liked the soup, found the reshmi kabab tasty but dry, and the fish (a fillet of garlicy surmai) good.

With a huge food menu, we were a bit disappointed to find that though they had other beverages listed, only cold drinks were available. There’s also nothing for those with sweet tooth cravings.

The waiters were polite, friendly and made sure we always had enough water to drink. On the whole, this experience was average. However we have in the past eaten much better meals at Foodies — their special mutton biryani that has made me want to pack an extra for the road.

RATINGS:

Must haves: special mutton biryani, chicken/mutton egg kathi rolls
