Three youths drowned in the canal near Dias plot on Sunday at around 4 pm while attending the Ganesh immersion process. The victims were identified as Rajesh Jarmandi (25), Rahul Jindal (21) and Naresh Mykal (24) all from Solapur. Fire brigade officials fished out one of the bodies, that of Mykal from the canal on Monday.
The trio had entered the canal near Dias plot for Ganesh immersion. However, they failed to return to the shore due to the strong current of water. The search operation for the other two, Jindal and Jarmandi, was carried out till late Monday evening.
In another incident, Ratankumar Das (22), a resident of Bangerwadi in Lonavala drowned in an immersion point in Lonavala.
